What To Expect
Transportation We will begin by picking you up at the airport in Laredo. On our way to the border we can stop and pick up any special refreshments or food that you want. We will then make our way to the border crossing which is around 25 miles. It usually takes less than 5 minutes to cross into Old Mexico. Once in Old Mexico we will proceed another 10 miles to the ranch. Once at the ranch we will unload your gear and let you get settled into camp.
Accommodations-"The Hacienda" The accomodations are good, not "fancy". Remember, you're in Old Mexico on a working cattle ranch. The houses are older, small and made of cinder block with metal roofing. They are warm, dry, and comfortable. We have a large shower and a full size bathroom located inside the sleeping quarters and a seperate house for the dining quarters.
The Hunting Your day will begin by getting up early to begin your hunt with your guide. We will usually hunt until 9-10, sometimes do a little javelina hunting on our way back to camp, and then settle in for a late breakfast. The afternoon hunt starts around 3-4 and last until dark. We will get back to camp, eat a great dinner, watch the days hunting tape, and then hit the sack. You will see several deer at close range and you should have a great chance at the type of deer you're looking for. We prefer to give the meat to the families on the ranch. For a small fee your deer can be caped out by one of the ranch hands and the hide frozen for the trip home. We also can have your deer either shoulder or europeon mounted and then shipped to you at a fair price. If you harvest a Javelina, feral hog, or coyote and would like the animal caped out for mounting or would like the skull boiled out there will be a $50 charge for each of these services for each animal.
Wound Policy
We consider a wounded deer and lost deer to be dead. Even the slight wounds prove to be fatal in this area where predators such as coyotes and puma need little in the way of advantage to kill a whitetail buck. You will be able to keep hunting for a second hunt cost of $3500. So please shoot straight! There is no reason to rush a shot, and they will normally be 15-25 yard shots.
